Not Second-Class Citizens

There are a few states in the US where same-sex marriage (civil unions) are legally recognized; congratulations New York for being the latest and hopefully not the last.  But, across the country, there are those who are continually refused the basic rights that we (straight) married folk possess; rights, such as, coverage under the health care plan of one's partner or the ability to see one's partner during an emergency room visit.

While some great victories have been achieved, the fight for marriage equality in this country is far from over.  I came across an article, that I hope you will check out, called "23 Portraits Of Gay Couples That Can’t Get Married"  It includes the photo of a couple that live in Fayetteville, Arkansas; only a forty minute drive from where I live.

These folks deserve the same rights that the rest of us enjoy.
